Turbovap MVR Evaporator Receives Expert Endorsement

According to a report on the Qingdao Mingyue Group website, the China Starch Industry Association and the China Biofermentation Industry Association jointly conducted an on-site verification of the application of the mechanical vapor recompression (MVR) plate‑type evaporation energy‑saving system at Qingdao Mingyue Group. On August 28, the two associations carried out a field inspection of the MVR plate‑type evaporation energy‑saving device—developed jointly by Turbovap and Nanjing Gaojie Light Industry Equipment Co., Ltd.—as used by Qingdao Mingyue Group. The verification team concluded that the system has achieved significant results in both energy conservation and environmental protection.

According to a report on the website of Qingdao Mingyue Group, the China Starch Industry Association and the China Biofermentation Industry Association jointly conducted an assessment of the application of Qingdao Mingyue Group’s mechanical vapor recompression (MVR) plate‑type evaporation energy‑saving system.

On August 28, the China Starch Industry Association and the China Bio‑Fermentation Industry Association jointly conducted an on-site verification of the application of a mechanical vapor recompression (MVR) plate‑type evaporation energy‑saving device—developed jointly by Turbovap and Nanjing Gaojie Light‑Industrial Equipment Co., Ltd.—at Qingdao Mingyue Group Co., Ltd. The verification team concluded that the device has achieved significant results in both energy conservation and environmental protection, with advanced technical performance that aligns with the nation’s fundamental policy of energy saving and emissions reduction. It is a new technology and piece of equipment worthy of careful promotion throughout the industry.

Turbovap has supplied a 5‑ton, 10‑degree centrifugal steam compressor for this MVR evaporator—capable of an evaporation rate of 5 tons per hour with a saturated steam temperature rise of 10 degrees Celsius—making it the core equipment of the entire evaporation system. As of press time, the system has been in stable operation for six and a half months.

This MVR evaporator is used for concentrating mannitol. Based on actual operating data, it consumes approximately 35 kWh of electricity per ton of water evaporated, with no steam consumption. In contrast, the three‑effect evaporation system employed prior to the upgrade required 0.35 tons of steam and 10 kWh of electricity per ton of water evaporated. Assuming a steam price of RMB 260 per ton, an electricity rate of RMB 0.7 per kWh, and an evaporation capacity of 5 tons per hour, the adoption of the MVR system yields daily energy cost savings of nearly RMB 10,000, demonstrating a significant energy‑saving effect.

Jin Shuren, Vice President of the China Starch Industry Association, and Yu Shumin, Vice President of the China Biofermentation Industry Association, attended the meeting.
