The centrifugal steam compressor, designed and manufactured by Turbovap, has been successfully deployed in a MVR evaporation unit for cold‑rolled electroplating wastewater. Recently, this unit has achieved stable operation at Shanghai Baosteel Group. Moreover, all key economic performance indicators have met the expected targets; notably, the concentration of nickel sulfate wastewater and the conductivity of the evaporated condensate have both fallen below 10 µS/cm, satisfying the requirements for process‑recycled water. This MVR system has pioneered a new approach to wastewater treatment in the cold‑rolling industry. The successful implementation of this project will significantly advance energy conservation, emission reduction, pollution control, and resource utilization within China’s steel sector. The smooth commissioning and operation of the project have received unanimous praise from Baosteel.

A high-flow, low-temperature-rise centrifugal steam compressor has been put into operation.
A high‑flow, low‑temperature‑rise centrifugal compressor manufactured by Turbovap has recently been commissioned at a large sugar‑alcohol production facility in Zhejiang Province. This model delivers a mass flow rate of 15 tonnes per hour, with a steam volumetric flow of 62,500 cubic metres per hour, an evaporation temperature of 70°C, and a saturated‑steam temperature rise of 7°C. High‑flow, low‑temperature‑rise steam compressors are widely used in MVR evaporation and concentration systems across industries such as starch, sugar alcohols, amino acids, and vitamins; until now, this type of compressor was predominantly supplied by imported centrifugal blowers. The successful deployment of the high‑flow, low‑temperature‑rise centrifugal steam compressor produced by Turbovap marks a significant breakthrough, ending reliance on imports.

Delivery and commissioning of multiple models of Turbovap turbines’ compressors.
Recently, Turbovap Turbomachinery has delivered and commissioned multiple models of centrifugal steam compressors to customers, serving a variety of industries including pesticide wastewater treatment, chemical wastewater treatment, and the concentration of plant extracts. These compressors cover a broad range of flow rates and feature moderate temperature rises, with users spanning Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Guangdong, Sichuan, and other provinces. Below are illustrative images from several case studies: Case Study 1: A sodium sulfate wastewater treatment MVR system at a chemical enterprise in Shandong. This model operates with an inlet gas temperature of 100°C and a temperature rise of 14°C, designed for atmospheric-pressure evaporation applications. Case Study 2: An MVR wastewater treatment system at a metallurgical enterprise in Shenzhen. This unit handles a flow rate of 1–2 tons per hour, with a temperature rise of 14–16°C, suitable for…

In October 2012, Qingdao Mingyue Algae officially launched its second MVR project, once again employing our company’s centrifugal steam compressor. The compressor’s design parameters are 7 tons at a temperature rise of 10°C (evaporation capacity of 7 t/h with a saturated steam temperature increase of 10°C). Since being commissioned in December 2012, the system has operated smoothly, with all performance indicators meeting the design specifications. Image of the operating workshop for Turbovap’s centrifugal steam compressor. According to actual calculations, evaporating one ton of water now requires approximately 35 kW of electricity and no steam, whereas prior to the upgrade, the three-effect concentration process consumed 0.35 tons of steam and 10 kW of electricity per ton of water evaporated.

In February 2013, the MVR wastewater treatment system at the Karamay Oilfield in Xinjiang was put into operation. The system employs a centrifugal steam compressor manufactured by DWE Turbine, with design parameters of 5 tons at 14°C (evaporation capacity of 5 t/h and a saturated steam temperature rise of 14°C). Currently, the equipment is running smoothly, and all performance indicators meet the design specifications. On-site MVR treatment of high-salinity wastewater at the Karamay Oilfield. According to actual calculations, approximately 35 kW of electricity is consumed per ton of water evaporated, with no steam consumption. After implementing this system, the oilfield’s wastewater can be recycled, significantly conserving water resources while also contributing to energy savings and emission reductions. The system utilizes forced…

Application Advantages of MVR Evaporation Technology in Mannitol Production
Abstract: The large-scale application of simulated moving bed technology in mannitol production has improved the yield of mannitol from the feedstock sugar. However, the extensive use of a desorbing agent—water—dilutes the material concentration, making evaporation and concentration an especially critical step that directly determines the product’s production cost. As a new type of highly efficient and energy-saving evaporator, the MVR (mechanical vapor recompression) evaporator effectively recovers the latent heat of the steam generated during evaporation, thereby reducing operating costs and delivering significant energy‑saving benefits and social advantages. The centrifugal steam compressor employed in the MVR system described in this paper was developed by Turbovap
