Application of MVR Evaporators in the Treatment of High-Salinity Wastewater
High-salinity wastewater arises from a wide range of sources; chemical and pharmaceutical companies, among others, generate substantial volumes of highly saline, high‑concentration organic wastewater during their production processes. Such effluents are characterized by complex chemical compositions, elevated salt content, and high organic‑matter concentrations, making direct biochemical treatment particularly challenging. For example, monosodium glutamate (MSG) production wastewater primarily originates from fermentation broth remaining after MSG extraction, the mother liquor discarded following concentration and crystallization, as well as various wash and disinfection streams. Typically, the discharge volume amounts to 15–25 tons per ton of MSG produced, with the effluent containing diverse inorganic salts, antifoaming agents, colorants, urea, various organic acids, and less than 1% of other amino acids. Molasses‑based alcohol wastewater is generated by utilizing molasses—a byproduct of sugar manufacturing.

As living standards continue to rise and urbanization accelerates, the volume of municipal solid waste is increasing year by year, currently growing at a rate of 9% to 10% annually. Compared with incineration and composting, sanitary landfilling remains the most widely adopted method for the harmless treatment of municipal waste in China. With the standardized construction of municipal solid waste landfills across the country, substantial quantities of leachate—often generated on a large scale—require appropriate treatment systems. In recent years, the treatment of landfill leachate has become a major research focus; however, this challenge is largely attributable to the leachate’s highly variable water quality, its declining biodegradability over time, its high ammonia‑nitrogen content, and its imbalanced nutrient composition.

MVR Retrofit of Turbovap Compressors for Multi-Effect Evaporation
Recently, a batch of centrifugal steam compressors manufactured by Turbovap has been successfully deployed in multi‑effect and four‑effect evaporator retrofit projects across Zhejiang, Shandong, Jiangsu, and other regions. Without altering the original main process flows of these evaporators, the upgrade can be accomplished simply by adding an appropriately sized centrifugal steam compressor and making minor modifications to the piping, enabling users to transition from multi‑effect evaporation to MVR evaporation with minimal capital investment. Leveraging the Group’s more than 20 years of experience in chemical production, Turbovap is able to provide customers with detailed theoretical calculations and extensive commissioning expertise for converting multi‑effect evaporators into MVR systems, ensuring a successful, one‑time retrofit.
